John Kelly - Class of 1993

Heard some sad news from my folks tonight regarding the Kelly family. Many of you know & remember Terry, who graduated in '89, and his brother John in '93 (i think Maggie graduated in mid-80's). John and his girlfriend were killed in a terrible boating accident on the lake last night. Here is a link to the latest news update. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kelly's and their family and friends.

1776 directed by Dustin Czarny with Ted Davenport our old English teacher in it.

Well this blog may not be that active but I thought I would post on here that if any of you are still local you may want to check out the play I directed, "1776" at Appleseed Productions in Syracuse. We opened last night to much publicity and almost sell out crowds. We have two weekends left and will run until July 7th. As a special bonus I cast our old English teacher Ted Davenport as "Ole Grape and Guts" Stephen Hopkins the delegate from Rhode Island.

For those of you unfamiliar with the production you can read John Marianni's front page article in the Syracuse Post Standard last Friday '1776' often mirrors modern US Politics or Wayne Meyers '1776': A musical oddity for previews of our show.

Also Chuck Klaus of the Syracuse Post Standard gave us a very positive review in his article Stars of varied stripes color '1776' in which he said "The Appleseed troupe has put forth a great deal of effort here, and the results in a difficult-to-stage property are notable and enjoyable. "

If you are local and want to come I suggest making reservations ASAP. The theater is filling up as the good press on this show is coming in. You can call 492-9766 to make reservations or got to www.appleseedproductions.org to buy tickets and make reservations there.

Below are the pertinent details for the production:

The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence... if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation.

Appleseed Productions is proud to present this hiostorical and patriotic play just in time for Independence Day. In bringing history to life Appleseed is making history itself by presenting our first full production during the summer. Come enjoy this production in our air conditioned theater and find a unique way to celebrate America's independence. Call 492-9766 for reservations or visit us online at www.appleseedproductions.org.

Welcome to our class blog....

It was great to see some of you at the reunion this past weekend...for those of you who couldn't make it, hopefully you'll be able to attend the 20-year-reunion in four years.

We're hoping this blog will allow us to all stay in touch...as well as to make the reunion committee's daunting task of finding everyone a bit easier.

There are a few links in the sidebar that you might find interesting. One of them is for an online photo album created for our class. If you have photos from one of the reunions, please upload them. If you have other photos from gatherings of classmates in recent or past years, please feel free to post those as well.

And, it's always great to see what people look like today so take a minute to post a current photo.

Welcome...let's stay in touch.

Best Regards,
Amber
